Every day this week we have had one child stay home and today is no different. Jakeb is home with a upset stomach and he is lounging in his bed with strict instructions of no playing and no happy bouncing thru the house.
After yesterday's visit (and co-pay!) to the dr. with Zachary it was pointed out that maybe we are a bit too liberal with the staying home going on around here. Ho hum, it's always something it seems.
It's a rainy day again and while it's very much needed my mood could use a little bit of sunshine. Though this happy chatty snuggly happy baby is my sunshine for the day. I woke up this morning with him snuggled right up against me with a hand on my cheek and I really don't think there is a better way to wake up.
We have hit the boys up with some allowance and responsibilities this week and I am really hoping we can manage to stick to it all this time around. The boys wouldn't let us forget about the money part but will certainly forget about the responsibility part so we will see how it all plays out. At 10, 8, and 6 the time has come for their assistance in the house hold and for the most part they are ok with that and are willing helpers--for the most part. We haven't supplied them with a long list but for now are starting with the basics--cleaning rooms (dust/vacuum etc) and their bathroom. In addition to helping with dishes at meal times. We are also working on encouraging them to do more on their own--or rather learning to, things that honestly you don't even realize they need to be doing until someone says--you still cut his food? Or he can't do that himself? And then you go "oh yeah wow, your right he should....how is he old enough to do that and why didn't I realize that?" I think back to the things I was doing on my own at their ages and realize we need to back off a bit. Not only does it teach them all the things they need to learn but also eases up our stress a bit. It's a hard juggle too but we are encroaching on new ground with a now preteen and a tween. So learn they must. And it's good.
Ok the happy smiley squeally baby is deciding he needs some attention! Enjoy your Friday!
